Stop TB’s Challenge Facility for Civil Society

The Stop TB Partnership´s Challenge Facility for Civil Society (CFCS) mission is to provide support to community-based organizations engaged in advocacy and social mobilization activities seeking to raise awareness and empower communities to become part of the solution in the fight against TB.

The Challenge Facility for Civil Society has awarded 88 grants in four rounds. Grant recipients are located in 37 countries around the world. The total amount of funds disbursed is close to US$ 1,600,000.

The Stop TB Partnership Challenge Facility for Civil Society will fund 22 civil society organizations across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America through its fourth round of grants, which range from US$ 5,000 to $20,000. The mission of the Challenge Facility is to support community-based organizations engaged in advocacy and social mobilization activities to raise TB awareness and empower communities to become part of the solution in the fight against TB.

By giving a voice to people affected by TB and those involved in TB prevention and care, community-based NGOs help shape local policies aimed at getting TB to all those in need. Without their efforts, untold thousands of people would remain unaware that they need TB care or how to go about accessing it. Supporting as many of these groups as we can is critical to our mission. Proposals are selected by an independent committee composed of 10 representatives from the community affected by TB, NGOs from developing and developed countries and multilateral or technical agencies. To date, the Challenge Facility has awarded US$ 1.6 Million in grants going to 37 countries.
