My group is actively working on elucidation of the mechanism of initiation of replication in Mycobacterium tuberculosis and on development of that would allow us to discover inhibitors of the proteins involved in this mechanism. In addition, in collaboration with Dr. Sabine Ehrt's laboratory at Weill Cornell, we are investigating another potential TB target, Rv3671c protease, essential for persistence of M. tuberculosis in the host macrophage and virulence.
