Statement:
The length of therapy for tuberculosis is a major obstacle for cure and poor compliance leads the drug resistance.
The biosynthesis of fatty acids and mycolic acids is an essential function and thus have several promising drug targets for first line drugs.
Specifically pyrazinamide is a sterlizing agent that likely affects fatty acid synthase I.
Acyl carrier domian of FAS I and the ACP protein of FAS II system are subject to essential activation by pantotheneic transferases two of them were identified AcpS and PptT.
These are also potential drug target that would affect mycokic acid biosynthesis profoundly.
Our work will result in formation of better systemes to study these enezymes and may lead eventually to shorter course of therapy
