Interview with TB Alert’s Mike Mandelbaum

Mike Mandelbaum is Chief Executive of TB Alert, which is the UK’s National and International Tuberculosis charity – the only British charity working solely on fighting TB in the UK and overseas.

TB Alert is a young charity, registered in late 1998 and launched at the Houses of Parliament on World TB Day (24th March) 1999. It was set up by people who felt that with its long tradition of TB work, there should be a greater response in Britain to the resurgent threat of tuberculosis – already declared a global emergency by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in 1993.

TB Alert is the first TB-specific charity in Britain since the 1960s when earlier organisations, assuming too soon that the disease had been vanquished, faded away or moved on to other interests. Its active Trustees include many of the leading experts on TB based in Britain.

TB Alert is an Organisational Member of the International Union Against TB and Lung Diseases and a StopTB Partner.
